- Description
- Ancient stone Calvary Cross restored in memory of Major-General Sir Edward R P Woodgate mortally wounded at Spion Kop. The old base was used with three steps representing the three Graces. The new column is over 14 feet high and surmounted by a carved canopy supported by four angels. On the West side is a figure of the Redeemer, on the East side a presentation of St. Michael and on the North and South sides are sacred mongrams. The whole is surmounted by a floriated cross with inscription on the shaft.
