History
Sir Reginald Blomfield, who designed the IWGC Cross of Sacrifice, was critical of this memorial, both for pirating his design and for the execution: '... There is a deplorable example...in the market-place at Aylesbury. The local man has done his best, but he has simply murdered my Cross.'- 'Memoirs of An Architect' (London, 1932) pp.179-180. Sep. 1997: memorial cleaned.
