- Description
- A cross of sacrifice with a sword on the front face rises from the centre of a low wall which bears a nowy-headed plaque with a Maltese cross. The wall also has inset bronze name panels. The area is surrounded by low chain link fence. Street lamps rise from each each end of wall. The lamp bases are ornamented with acanthus leaf and the shafts wreathed in laurels

- Sir Reginald Blomfield, who designed the IWGC Cross of Sacrifice, was critical of this memorial, both for pirating his design and for the execution: '... There is a deplorable example...in the market-place at Aylesbury. The local man has done his best, but he has simply murdered my Cross.'- 'Memoirs of An Architect' (London, 1932) pp.179-180. Sep. 1997: memorial cleaned.
