- In memory of John Stroyan who died at Barr Parish of Pennighame 9th Decr 1863 aged 77 years and his wife Janet McCornick who fied at Barr 15th Feby 1862 aged 66 years And their children Jane who died Balgown, Parish of Kirkmaiden 19th Novr 1851 (?) aged 32 years William Lieutenant in the Hon East India Company's service who was killed by the natives at Bernerah, North Eastern Africa while in joint command with Captains Burton and Speke of a surveying expedition into the Somali Country (?) 19th April 1855 aged 30 years Samuel who died at Barr aged 14th April 1860 aged 33 years Henry who died at Barr 25th Feby 1861 aged 28 years. This monumnet is erected in 1869 by the survivors of the family to keep in affectionate remembrance those who are not lost but gone before
