- Rectangular black slate tablet , at top the name of the VC recipient, below that from left the badges of the Essex Yeomanry, an image of the VC and the badge of the Machine Gun Corps and then the dedication, the three badges are in full colour and the remainder incised and coloured gold.

- HAROLD SANFORD MUGFORD VC/1894-1958/In memory of L/Cpl H S Mugford , Machine Gun Corps /formerly of the Essex Yeomanry , resident of Chelmsford/who was awarded the Victoria Cross/for the most conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty/at Monchy-le-Preux on 11th April 1917/during the Battle of Arras /
