Condition
History
In 2017 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £8,480 for conservation and repair works. The pointing on the war memorial had failed and a number of the joints were void of mortar. The masonry had attracted biological growth and pollution surface dirt. The paving at the base had become uneven and a number of the flagstones and edging were damaged. A paint finish had been applied to the bronze plaques. To address these issues the memorial and the bronze plaques were appropriately cleaned. The damaged flagstones and edging were replaced on a like for like basis and reset, the construction joints and those of the memorial were re-pointed with a lime mortar.
