Description
A black marble headstone shaped memorial, with gilded incised inscription and an oval with an image of Nurse Cavell beneath the title inscription top. Set in a low, tubular steel fenced area within a larger fenced-off Garden of Remembrance which lies between the River Ness and the Inverness War Memorial (WMR 5886), all of which is within the Cavell Gardens (WMR XXXX) The substantive inscription is similar to that inscribed on an enamelled brass plaque which formerly sat on a stand at the front of the tubular steel fenced area, along with one recording the creation of the Garden of Remembrance in 2011. These plaque appear to have been removed when the stone was erected in 2015. The latter was re-positioned and is presently attached to the steel fencing in front of the stone. A laminated plastic plaque seems to have been created as a replacement for the former, and now sits at the entrance to the Gardens near the foot of Infirmary Bridge. The stone is positioned almost back to back with the Burma Star Association memorial (WMR 78909).
