SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF/ CHARLES GRANT BECHER,/ SON OF CHARLES BECHER ESQRE,/ LATE OF CHANCELLOR HOUSE IN THIS PARISH;/ LT COLONEL IN THE 8TH BENGAL CAVALRY,/ WHO DIED ON ACTIVE SERVICE AT INDORE,/ DURING THE INDIAN MUTINY;/ ON THE 2ND APRIL 1859, AGED 46 YEARS./ THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY HIS ELDEST SON/ CHARLES ADRIAN GOUGH BECHER,/ CAPTAIN 1ST KINGS DRAGOON GUARDS./ ALSO TO/ HENRIETTA MACDONALD,/ WIDOW OF THE ABOVE./WHO DIED AT BRIGHTON 18TH JANUARY, 1890/ AGED 65 YEARS./ --------/ LORD ALL PITYING JESU BLEST/ GRANT THEM THY ETERNAL REST./
