Crown surmouting a modillion, tapering column, and square plinth with a circular plaque attached and rectangular plaque with the dedication. The whole is set on a base and concrete surround.
Inscription
"This monument was erected by his countrymen at home and abroad - To the memory of Major General Sir William Penn-Seymour KCB of Hatt who fell while commanding the British Troops at Talana Hill, Natal on 20 October 1899". (Line breaks not known.)
