HONG KONG VOLUNTEER/ DEFENCE CORPS/ [Chinese lettering]/ THE CORPS WAS FOUNDED IN 1854./ IN 1941 IT WAS OVER 2000 IN STRENGTH/ COMPRISING: INFANTRY, ARTILLERY,/ FIELD ENGINEERS, FIELD AMBULANCE,/ NURSING AND OTHER MILITARY/ FORMATIONS./ THIS MEMORIAL IS DEDICATED/ TO ALL THOSE MEMBERS OF THE CORPS/ WHO SERVED AND THOSE WHO/ SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES/ IN THE DEFENCE OF HONG KONG/ IN WORLD WAR II/ 1941-1945.
