- Description
- Stained Glass window with brass dedication plaque below. The window is composed of nine panels. Of the three principal panels, which occupy the centre of the window, the centre one shows Abraham leaving Ur of the Chaldees; the left Abraham being visited by the three angels; and the right Jacob wrestling with the angel. The left hand panel of the bottom row depicts Jacob and Joseph meeting in Egypt; the centre, Eliazar meeting Rebecca at the well and receiving a drink from her; and the right hand, Abraham sacrificing Isaac. In the top row of panels the left hand figure is that of the archangel Gabriel, the angel of peace and mercy; the centre depicts Jacob's dream, with the angels soaring towards heaven, and the hand of God reaching down; and on the right is the figure of the archangel Michael , the angel of war and strife. One side of the window is symbolic of struggle and sorrow and the other side of peace.
