Inscription
SACRED/ To the Memory of/ COLONEL JOHN GREY/ Late of the Royal Scot's Greys,/ Fondly beloved, and deeply deplored,/ As Husband, Father, and Friend./ He died at Sidmouth,/ Dec. 21st 1842, Aged 55 Years./ He was a distinguished Officer/ and received a wound at/ WATERLOO./ "Blessed are the pure in heart,/ for they shall see GOD."
