Description
A wheel cross on a rubble stone cairn. The white granite cross has a boss at its centre and interwoven strapwork on each arm and the plain tapered shaft has a recessed panel at the base with the inscription in relief in upright capital Roman lettering. The cross surmounts a cairn comprising loose sandstone boulders surrounding a concrete core which supports the cross. A white granite tablet is set into the 6 o'clock face of the cairn and has a rough hewn outline with a dressed face bearing the inlaid inscription in upright capital block lettering. A further polished grey granite tablet is attached to the cross shaft and bears the WW2 inscription incised in upright capital Roman lettering.
