Description
The panel consists of two matching paneled sections, standing on plain sills with moulded upper edges, on either side of a door into the vestry, and a frame supporting a single curtain to cover that door. Each section is topped with a cornice with cut card tracery above a row of running ornament of a sinuous vine, an inscription, above a row of Gothic tracery, trefoil arched with lights above. The cornice protrudes to from three-sided canopies above the panels containing the name and ranks of the dead. The inscription, in rounded Gothic caps, runs across both sections and has contained four-petaled flowers at either end of each section. It reads: THEIR BODIES ARE BURIED IN PEACE/ AND THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE. Muntins divide each section into four panels; two narrow side panels and two wider central panels containing, in rounded Gothic capitals incised and stained in black, the names and ranks of the dead.
