Description
Rectangular plaque set in a carved wooden frame, with a wooden attachment above. Plaque has a cast, rope border, with knots at each corner and a centrally inset card with the inscription. At the foot of the card are two military figures with rifles reversed, standing on furled flags and shield with dates 1914-1918. On the right are three soldiers in a trench. At the top is an angel holding two wreaths, while a third wreath lies below. At each side of the card are three standards, and around the plaque are representations of WWI aeroplanes and ships.

ARTHUR WELLS / 7TH LEICESTRSHIRE REGT., / WHO DIED IN ENGLAND AS THE RESULT OF WAR SERVICE, / JUNE 2, 1919, / AGED 26 YEARS. / HIS TASK IS O'ER, HIS WORK IS DONE, / AND HE IS FULLY BLEST; / HE FOUGHT THE FIGHT, THE VICTORY WON, / AND ENTERED INTO REST. / THE PATH OF DUTY / WAS THE WAY TO GLORY
