Description
A brass plaque mounted onto an outside wall of the museum. The dedication is written in black incised lettering, with a regimental emblem in the top left corner and surrounded by an incised black border.
Inscription
Sacred to the memory of/ No 7042 Private John Drew./ 7235 " William Newport./ 8221 " Leonard Clay./ of the 1st Battn. Duke of Edinburgh's (Wiltshire Regiment)/ who were accidentally drowned near Pietermaritzburg. Natal./ South Africa, during a Night March on 27th March 1910./ This tablet is erected by General Lord Methuen G. C. B.,/ K.C.V.O., C.M.G. General Officer Commanding-in-Chief/ South Africa. Who accompanied the Battalion.
