Description
Wall-mounted white marble tablet with slate backboard. Dedication in black lettering. Tablet is surmounted by white marble cross, either side of which are two shields with pattern in relief. Another shield is underneath the tablet. Regimental badge directly underneath cross.

TO THE BELOVED MEMORY OF/ SPENCER LORT MANSEL MANSEL-CAREY/ ELDER SON OF SPENCER AND MARY MANSEL MANSEL-CAREY/ OF UPPINGHAM IN THE COUNTY OF RUTLAND (AND THROUGH BOTH/ HIS PARENTS GRANDSON IN THE FIFTH GENERATION OF/ MAJOR ROGER LORT.)/ HE BEING A 2ND LIEUT. IN THE 8TH BATTALION OF THE/ DEVONSHIRE REGIMENT WAS MORTALLY WOUNDED NEAR FRICOURT/ AND DIED FEBRUARY 24TH AND WAS LAID TO REST IN THE/ MILITARY PORTION OF THE CEMETERY AT CORBIE/ OF FEB 26TH 1916/ BORN MARCH 12TH 1893/ (THEN IN GREEK MARK III 13 - TRANSLATED AS "AND HE GOETH UP INTO A MOUNTAIN")/ ST MARK III.13
