Description
Square-based flagstone rubble cairn surmounted by pyramid. Cairn has inset polished pink granite tablet, with black lettering, and flagstone cross. Pedestal formed of two flagstone rubble levels, resting on concrete base enclosed on three sides by low flagstone rubble walls, terminating with square piers with stepped pyramid cappings. Accessed from roadside via two concrete steps and flanked by low flagstone rubble walls. There used to be an unusual turnstile gate with railings on the walls, but both the gate and the railings were removed by 2011. In 2014, the front walls were replaced (see images on 'War Memorials Online' dating from 2014 and 2017) and now have flat tops and the memorial was generally restored at this time.
