- Description
- Two large rectangular nowy-headed wooden boards, with the carved Metropolitan Police crest at top-centre, which were created in 2005 as replacements for the original boards that formerly hung inside the Metropolitan and City Police Memorial hospital in Twickenham. (The original boards made in 1923 had later become badly damaged by damp while in storage - see WMR 48264, so these replacement boards were commissioned and installed at Hendon in 2005. As the inscription on the original boards stated that they listed 386 casualties, and these replacement boards list 387, an extra name was evidently added at some point. As far as is known, all the data on these replacement boards was copied from the originals, so it appears the extra name was added to the original boards, probably soon after 1923, and later copied onto these replacement boards).
