Description
Red Granite Boulder on top of a squared stone base, total height 12 feet, sitting on a square coursed freestone plinth. There is a bronze coloured plaque, very plain, with a flower round the screw head in each corner. The dedication is in sunken Roman lettering. The whole is surrounded by a flagged area by a post and chain fence with a short path to the road. The Garden of Remembrance also contains trees, flower beds and is surrounded by a post and chain fence, with a short path to the road, and an ornamental wrought iron gate with inscription.

PRO PATRIA/ IN MEMORY OF THE OFFICERS, NCOS AND MEN OF THE/ 3RD (MILITIA) BATT. THE DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY,/ THE IMPERIAL YEOMANRY AND LOCAL VOLUNTEERS/ ATTACHED TO THE LINE REGIMENTS/ WHO DIED IN SOUTH AFRICA DURING THE BOER WAR.
