- Reference
- The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records that Private Ernest Charles Rowe, son of Thomas Henry and Alice Rowe of 27 Orchard Street, New Fletton, Peterborough, died on 18/8/1916 while serving with the 7th Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment; his regimental number was 20646. He has no known grave but is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial in France. Despite the transposition of forenames and slightly different date of death, the next-of-kin and address details that CWGC record for the above soldier indicate that he was the man commemorated on the grave in Woodston Cemetery of Thomas Henry and Alice Rowe.
