Description
Rectangular marble tablet with semi-circular head. On the upper section is carved in relief an image of a male head and shoulders in profile. The figure is dressed in army uniform. The inscription is on the lower half, with the lettering incised.

D.S.O./ LATE THE QUEEN'S (ROYAL WEST SURREY REGT)/ THIRD SON OF THE LATE MAJOR GENERAL/ HENRY MEADE HAMILTON C.B./ BORN JUNE 27TH 1861/ KILLED IN ACTION 14TH OCTOBER 1914 AT/ LA COUTURE FRANCE/ WHILST COMMANDING 3RD DIVISION/ BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE/ A FINE SOLDIER AND A FAITHFUL FRIEND.
