- SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF/THE REVEREND JOHN MOORHOUSE/RECTOR OF CLIFTON/WHO DIED 13TH OF JULY 1818, AGED 63 YEARS/AND OF BARBARA HIS WIDOW/WHO DIED 29TH OF JULY IN THE SAME YEAR/AGED 69 YEARS/ALSO IN REMEMBRANCE OF THEIR ONLY SON/JONATHAN MOORHOUSE ESQUIRE/CAPTAIN IN THE HONBLE EAST INDIA COMPANY’S/ARTILLERY SERVICE, WHO DIED 31ST OF MAY 1823/AT MYSOOR IN INDIA, AGED 41 YEARS/THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED BY THE FIRST COUSINS/OF THE LATE CAPTAIN MOORHOUSE/IN TESTIMONY OF THEIR ESTEEM AND REGARD/FOR THE MEMORY OF THEIR DECEASED RELATIVES.
