- There was an earlier WW2 memorial, contemporary to the period. Unlike the Roll of Honour for WW1 and the WW1 brass, which have both re-appeared in recent years, this one is still missing. An appeal in the “Whitehaven News” did not manage to find it, so this replacement was made. As far as memory can recall this is thought to be identical to the original.
