SHIP "VARELA" ON 30th MARCH, 1916 DIED OF WOUNDS RECEIVED IN MESOPOTAMIA AND WAS/ BURIED AT SEA. REQUIESCAT IN PACE. ONLY SON OF MARY ANN BURKINSHAW/ AND THE LATE CHARLES WILLIAM BURKINSHAW OF COTES GRANGE IN THIS PARISH.
