- Description
- The memorial is in two parts: 1- A 3 light window (unsigned) depicting Joshua, Gideon & Judas Maccabeus with military subjects and the badge of the 34th Regiment* (it is the 2nd window from west in the south aisle) 2- A set of three brasses assembled below each other to form one memorial. The top brass has the badge of the 34th Regiment at top centre, the script is in mainly black lettering with some lettering picked out in red. The top nine names in Column 9 have a line scored round them to indicate those who died in India, as opposed to later. The other two brasses are just inscription and names, again in a mixture of black & red lettering. • The Badge of the 34th Cumberland Regt is 34 ringed with Cumberland Regiment in the centre, flanked by 4 quadrants and a scroll below. The bottom scroll is ‘Arroyo dos Molinos’. The 4 quadrants commemorate battles the regiment fought in- 12 o’clock-Pyrenees/Nivelle/Nive 3 o’clock-Peninsula/Orthes 9 o’clock-Albuhera/Vittoria 6 o’clock-Sevastapol/Lucknow
