Brass Plaque with the Regimental Badge on the Left Hand Side and his four campaign medals along the top.
Inscription
Sacred to the Memory of/Lieut General Sir Robert Howe GCB/Colonel of The Border Regiment 1903-1909/Born 25 Nov 1828/Died at Dehra Dun. India 5 Feb 1909/He entered the Army in 1847 and served throughout the Crimean Campaign of/1854-55, and the Bhootan Expedition of 1865: Commanded Saugor Dist. 1874-/1877: Allahabad Div. 1879-80, S. Afghanistan Field Force 1880-81; Quetta Divn/1881 and Lahore Div. 1881-1884. He commanded the 55 Regt 16 years 1858-74 and was/greatly beloved and respected by all ranks. He was Colonel of the K.O.Y.I. Infantry 1893-95/ This memorial is erected by the Officers, Past & Present of the Border Regt as a token of respect.
