TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF/ FRED SIMKIN, THE ONLY BELOVED SON OF/ ALBERT EDWARD AND ALICE PRESCOTT, OF THIS PARISH,/ WHO, ON THE OUTBREAK OF WAR, CHEERFULLY VOLUNTEERED HIS SERVICES/ WITH THE 1/5th MANCH: REG., AND WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON THE GALLIPOLI/ PENINSULA, JUNE 4th 1915, IN HIS 19th YEAR/ "HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR HIS COUNTRY."
