Description
A brass trefoil plaque inside a brown-veined marble arch frame with foliate carving in relief and a triangular pediment. The marble frame includes two pink marble columns, one on either side of the plaque. There are two carved angels at the lower corners of the pediment, on the apron, and two engraved angels at the top centre of the plaque. The inscription on the plaque is engraved and painted, with words in black and first letters and dates in red.

SACRED/ TO THE MEMORY OF/ MAJOR GEORGE CHICHESTER/ SECOND SON OF THE LATE COLONEL CHICHESTER/ OF ARLINGTON COURT/ HE DIED IN LONDON JULY 14 1876/ AGED 79/ AND WAS BURIED AT KENSAL GREEN/ IN EARLY LIFE HE SERVED IN INDIA WITH THE/ 59TH REGIMENT AND WAS PRESENT AT THE/SIEGE AND CAPTURE OF BHURTPOOR IN 1821/ WHERE HE WAS SEVERELY WOUNDED/ THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED/ BY HIS DAUGHTER AGNES/ IN GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE OF HIS LOVE AND DEVOTION/ TO HER THROUGHOUT HIS LONG LIFE.
