Description
A Celtic cross set on a stepped octagonal pedestal and a wider octagonal base. The head of the cross has a delicate floral carving. Bronze plaques are affixed to alternate faces of the lower level of the pedestal, with a finely-carved inscription in serif capitals carried around all sides, and bearing the names. Metal plaques add in 2010.

WW1: IN MEMORY OF THE MEN WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR & AS A THANKSGIVING TO GOD FOR THEIR COMRADES WHOSE LIVES WERE SPARED. THIS CROSS IN GRATITUDE WAS SET UP BY THEIR FELLOW TOWNSMEN AD 1919. WW2: They shall grow not old,/ as we that are left grow old:/ Age shall not weary them,/ nor the years condemn./ At the going down of the/ sun and in the morning/ We will remember them.
