THE GLADE/ 75th ANNIVERSARY/ The Glade was completed in June 1937 by the/ Campbell/ Sommaruga family of Pounsley Farm/ and the people of Blackboys to provide sanctuary to/ 20 Basque children from northern Spain/ who were evacuated from the horror/ of civil war in their homeland./ For thee (sic) years, this cabin and the people who cared/ for them provided shelter and a peaceful life/ during a tragic time in their country's history./ This plaque was dedicated in May 2012 in honour/ of all the people who made the sanctuary possible./
