Description
A white marble monument comprising a carved figure on a tall pedestal and base. The figure is a WW1 infantryman in battledress with pouches, wearing a steel helmet and holding a rifle in his right hand. His left hand is behind his back and he is leaning on a tree stump. The square pedestal has a moulded capstone and a moulded plinth at the foot over three marble steps and a three step concrete base. The inlaid inscription is in upright capital block lettering flush with the surface, but some visible peg holes suggest that an earlier lettering may have been proud of the surface.
