- Description
- Kerr Stuart 60cm 0-6-0 well and side tank locomotive, one of seventy 'Joffre' class engines ordered by the French government for use on the Western Front. It now has rectangular dedicatory plaques and is painted with the letters W D separated by a version of the British War Office broad arrow.

- History
- Built 1915 at Stoke on Trent and served in France in WW1. Went out of service c1946 and found derelict at Rinxent near Calais c1956, being repatriated to the UK in 1974. Later stored in North Wales and purchased by the Lynton and Banstaple Railway in 1983. Named 'Axe' after a Devon river. Restored, and dedicated as a war memorial in 2008. Entered revenue eatrning service 1 March 2009.
