Description
Grey stone rectangular tablet with a raised border , a ships badge formed by a crown above "RN" at top left coloured gold , a second badge part way down on left formed by a crown surmounted by sun rays above "RE IWT" (denoting Royal Engineers Inland Water Transport") also coloured gold , the commemoration painted black on the surface of the stone .

/ THIS ENSIGN was flown by HMS ANDROMACHE/ Commander R L Crichton R N /during the Great War in mine laying/ operations in the North Sea and Dover/Patrol 1914-1915/THIS ENSIGN was flown by Major J. A. Crichton 5th Hants/ Regiment attached R.E. in Government/ R.E. launch while in charge of Inland Water/ Transport on the River Tigris Mesopotamia/ during the Great War/ 1916-17 /
