A small cloth Union Flag mounted in a wooden frame and glazed. A small card within the frame contains the typed caption.

Caption: THIS UNION FLAG WAS RETURNED TO ITS HOMELAND FOLLOWING THE/ SURRENDER OF THE JAPANESE IN THE FAR EASTERN WAR OF 1941 TO 1945./ IT REMAINED HIDDEN FROM THE ENEMY IN THE SIME ROAD INTERNMENT CAMP/ THROUGHOUT THE OCCUPATION OF SINGAPORE AND WAS SECRETLY USED IN/ SERVICES OF HOMAGE PAID TO OUR COMRADES WHO DIED FROM WOUNDS AND/ DISEASE./ Presented to the Allestree Branch of the Royal British Legion by Captain T. S. Terry, a member/ of the Branch and unveiled on 6th June 1977, the Silver Jubilee Year of our Patron,/ H. M. Queen Elizabeth II by Colonel J. H. Hughes, CBE, O.St.J., TD, MA, MEd, past National/ Chairman of the Legion and Chairman of the Poppy Appeal.
