South Edge of the tomb-THIS MEMORIAL IS PLACED HERE IN REMEMBRANCE OF FREDERICK CHARLES CAVENDISH SON OF THE/ East Edge of the tomb-7TH DUKE OF DEVONSHIRE AND BLANCHE HIS/ North Edge of the tomb-WIFE BY SOME OF THOSE WHO KNEW AND LOVED HIM: BORN NOV 30TH 1836: DIED IN THE SERVICE OF HIS COUNTRY West Edge of the tomb-AND IN DEFENCE OF HIS FRIEND MAY 6 1882 On a Plaque on the east end of the tomb-"WHO SHALL ASCEND INTO/THE HILL OF THE LORD/OR WHO SHALL RISE UP/IN HIS HOLY PLACE; /EVEN HE THAT HATH CLEAN/HANDS AND A PURE HEART"
