Description
A garden planted with Viscosa Antelope, a deciduous azalea producing pink fragrant flowers in May. It commemorates the Falklands War and is named after HMS Antelope, which was sunk during the campaign. There is a black granite tablet on a brick plinth at the entry to the garden which includes details of the key battles within the War, inscribed in white lettering below a map of the region. A blue metal plaque on a stake is fixed into the flower bed. the plaque is decorated with the insignia and motto of HMS Antelope above a commemoration which includes the names of two men who died when HMS Antelope was sunk. The garden includes a tree dedicated to Admiral of the Fleet Lord Fieldhouse of Gosport, who was Commander of the Task force to recover the Falkland Islands. The garden leads to the South Atlantic Medal Association Memorial (WMR 6292).
