Description
A themed ivory chess set and ivory table top board, kept within a wooden framed glass top-case. The chess pieces represent two armies, one Indian, one British. The King and Queen of both armies are mounted on Indian Elephants. The Indian King and Queen pieces sit within two elaborate roofed howdahs, whilst the British King and Queen sit in two un-roofed howdahs with the Queen holding a parasol. The Indian bishop piece is an ox and the knight piece is mounted on a camel. The British bishop piece is a lion and the knight piece is mounted on a pony. The pawns are carved as Indian soldiers and British soldiers. All chess pieces are carved in detail.
