Description
A wall mounted black marble tablet in an alabaster frame. The plain polished tablet has a rounded arch top and the incised gilded inscription is in mixed case upright Roman lettering. The frame is of brown veined white alabaster with a moulded cornice at the head and moulded borders to the tablet. It is surmounted by an oblong block bearing the shield of the Curzon family in relief and rests on two small brackets.

In memory of/ RICHARD/ NATHANIEL CURZON/ 10th Baronet 6th Baron/ and 2nd Viscount Scarsdale/ Born 3rd July 1898/ Died 19th October 1977/ For 52 years/ 29th Lord of Kedleston/ Served in France, Belgium/ and Germany in the Royal/ Scots Greys 1918-1919 and in/ Egypt, Syria, Palestine and/ England in the Royal/ Artillery 1939-1945/ Major and Honorary Colonel/ R.A. Territorial Decoration and/ a Knight of the Order of St. John/ of Jerusalem. He devoted much/ of his life to the maintenance/ of this church and to restoring/ The Hall and the estate to their/ original beauty and prosperity.

The church lies within Kedleston Hall Park listed in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest. The church is listed in the Derbyshire Historic Environment Record (formerly the Derbyshire Sites and Monuments Record) HER Number 21903. The church is listed in the PastScape register based on the National Monuments Record national historic environment database.
