- Description
- Timber hut with gabled roof and wooden porch surround. Hut contains an exhibition about the prisoners held by the Japanese during the Second World War. A visual projection sequence shows the name and rank of the 55,000 British Servicemen taken prisoner in South East Asia. In front of the hut is a stone with a bronze plaque depicting a layer of Changi Prison in relief, together with an inscription. The prison held military and civilian prisoners of the Japanese. The stone that the plaque is attached to came from the original prison wall. Cross: TWO STEPPED BASE SURMOUNTED BY WOODEN CROSS. INSCRIPTION CARVED ONTO THE FRONT FACE OF THE CROSS AND ON A BRASS PLAQUE PLACED ON THE FRONT OF THE BASE.
