Description
Wrought iron, vertical cross with a wooden facing set on a rough hewn stone base. On the cross arm is a plastic tag with the dedication. In front is a smaller stone on top of which is a wooden glazed case holding a decayed cross-arm. Also within the case is a faded paper in black print with a black line border. Recumbent stone slab to the east of the cross has the dedication on it.

Cross arm of wooden cross: IN MEMORY OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER. Recumbent stone slab: THIS CROSS/ BROUGHT FROM THE LA(...) ASSEE-BETHUNE/ SECTOR ON THE WESTERN FRONT/ HAVING BEEN REPLACED BY A HEADSTONE/ WAS PRESENTED BY CAPT H. SMITH D.S.O./ SECRETARY OF THE BRITISH LEGION/ LIVERPOOL TO THE/ ROSSETT BRANCH OF THE LEGION/ AND CONSECRATED BY HIS GRACE/ THE LORD ARCHBISHOP OF WALES/ ON SUNDAY JUNE 21 1931./ LEST WE FORGET. Paper in glass case: THIS IS A REMNANT OF THE ORIGINAL CROSS BROUGHT OVER FROM THE WESTERN FRONT, AS EXPLAINED ON THE STONE TABLET BELOW. DUE TO THE RAVAGES OF TIME & WEATHER IT WAS NECESSARY TO REPLACE IT. THE NEW CROSS WAS DEDICATED AT THE REMEMBRANCE SERVICE ON SUNDAY 14th NOVEMBER 1999

History
Original battlefield cross was a facing to the wrought iron cross but deterioated over time and was replaced in 1999 with a new cross facing. Remnant of the battlefield cross retained in a glass case at the foot of the wrought iron cross.
