- Tapered Obelisk with crossed sword, anchor and rifle on front face set on a tapering plinth on which is attached a plaque with the dedication. The whole is set on a three stepped base and stone platform which is reached by four steps.

- Aberdeen Press and Journal - Monday 28 January 1980 Help from afar for safer path (An Australian visitor slipped on the path and spent several weeks in hospital with a leg injury. There was a campaign to make the path safer which would cost £446.26, the District Council agreed to pay £400 and a cheque arrived from Australia for £50.)
