- A brick clad leisure centre with stainless steel plaque inside main entrance.
- Inscription
- Face of building: William Gregg VC Leisure Centre Plaque: Sgt. WILLIAM GREGG/ VC, DCM, MM/ William Gregg (1890-1969) was born in Heanor/ and was the first British soldier ever to receive the/ three highest awards for gallantry./ He received the Military Medal and Distinguished/ Conduct Medal in 1917 and was awarded the/ Victoria Cross in 1918 for "most conspicuous/ bravery and brilliant leadership in action" having/ taken command of his company which was under/ heavy fire. He captured two enemy machine gun/ posts and by his actions saved the situation at a/ critical time./ He returned to Heanor until his death in 1969.
