- The Scotsman, Monday 14th November 1921. TARBAT The war memorial for the parish of Tarbat was unveiled by Col. Mackenzie of Ord. It is erected on a commanding site south of Portmahomack, and has a massive base and die, with polished granite tablets inscribed with the names of the 48 fallen belonging to the parish, surmounted by a tall, square obelisk bearing carved flag. The Rev. E. Fraser read the list of names, and the Rev. J. MacMorland offered the dedicatory prayer. Dr Pyle committed the memorial to the charge of the Parish Council.
