In 2008 War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £446 through the Small Grants Scheme in Scotland. A wooden rifle had been placed on the memorial as previous rifles kept being stolen, and Highland Council had received complaints regarding the wooden replica. The grant went towards a new marble rifle which has been installed on the memorial as per the original design. The rifle was more firmly secured on the memorial by being fixed with stainless steel pins and epoxy based marble filler; July 2018 - I believe the rifle has gone missing twice; The memorial was cleaned and names repainted in June 2018
