- ERECTED IN DEAR MEMORY OF FRANCIS METHEUN NOEL 2ND LIEUT DEVONSHIRE REGT KILLED/ IN ACTION AT CHEUVELT ON OCTOBER 26TH 1917. HE WAS THE SON OF ADMIRAL FRANCIS/ CHARLES METHEUN NOEL AND WILMOT JULIANA HIS WIFE. HE WENT FORTH WITH OUR BRAVE COMRADES/ TO DEFEND ENGLAND IN HER PERIL, THE HOMES THEY LOVED AND THE HONOUR OF THEIR RACE.
