Circular tapering surmounted by a bronze thistle. On the front is a stone mount with a metal plaque for each World War. Royal Garrison Artillery badges above the inscription.

  • THE ROSS BATTERY. A REMARKABLE RECORD. SIR I. HAMILTON'S TRIBUTE. GENERAL SIR IAN HAMILTON, accompanied by Colonel C. H. Clark, D. S. O., and Colonel Bruce Allan, O. B. E., who commanded the Ross Mountain Battery in Gallipoli, arrived at Stornoway on Tuesday night for the purpose of unveiling yesterday afternoon the monument erected at the Drill Hall to the memory of the men of the Ross Battery who, fell in the war. In the forenoon they visited the Nicolson Institute, where Sir Ian Hamilton addressed the teaching staff and pupils.
