  • Dundee Courier - Monday 09 May 1921 WAR MEMORIAL UNVEILED AT ABERFOYLE. In the presence of a large gathering the war memorial to the Aberfoyle and District heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War was unveiled in beautiful weather at Aberfoyle on Saturday afternoon The unveiling ceremony was performed by the Duke of Montrose, Lord-Lieutenant of Stirlingshire, who was accompanied by the Duchess. An impressive address was delivered by Lieutenant-Colonel A. M. B. Grahame of Arntiomy, Port of Monteith. The memorial occupies a prominent, site in the grounds of the pretty little Parish Church. It takes the form of a Celtic cross, and bears the names of 34 men. After the pipers had played a lament and the "Last Post" had been sounded many beautiful wreaths and flowers were placed at the foot of the cross by relatives and others.
