Description
Curved wall enclosing a raised lawn on which stands a brick cairn. Wall has five plaques set into it with the names and regiments in white lettering. Bronze figure of a grieving woman seated on a bench opposite, looking at the wall. In May 2017 the cairn was removed, and is being replaced (as of 7th June 2017) with a sandstone plinth which will have a soldier figure on top- see our reference 81002. However the rest of the memorial remains in situ as of Summer 2018. Plaques list names and regiments in First and Second World Wars, together with soldiers killed in the Korean War and Borneo.

History
March 2018- Grieving woman sculpture vandalised by being daubed with paint; The First World War plaques were formerly attached to the external wall of the Sanquhar Institute, mounted at either side of the entrance door., and the second World War Plaques were attached to the front pillars of the institute, hence their curved shape -see memorial 72187
