Description
Obelisk with sword on front face set on a stepped stone plinth. Dedicatory inscription and names for WW1 carved on the sides of the plinth. Dedicatory inscription and names for WW2 are placed on metal plaques below the WW1 inscriptions. Memorial is set within a small garden enclosed by metal raislings. surrounded by garden and iron railings.

  • The Scotsman, Monday 27th June 1921, Page 5. "Longcroft An obelisk in grey granite erected at The Sheddings, Longcroft, to commemorate the Dennyloanhead, Haggs Parish, Banknock and Allandale men who fell in the war, was unveiled by His Grace the Duke of Montrose, K.T., Lord Lieutenant for the county. On the obelisk are the names of 86 men. Rev. Alexander Macara paid tribute to the memory of the fallen."
