IN MEMORY OF HENRY ANSTRUTHER ESQ/ 2ND LIEUT 23RD WELSH FUSILIERS/ BORN 4TH JUNE 1836 AND FELL IN THE BATTLE/ OF THE ALMA 20TH SEPTEMBER 1854 WHILE CARRYING THE QUEEN'S/ COLOUR OF THE REGIMENT THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED BY THE/ CLERGY, TENANTRY AND OTHERS CONNECTED WITH THE ESTATES/ OF BALCASKIE WATTON ETC AS A TRIBUTE TO HIS SIMPLE FAITH/ AFFECTIONATE HEART AND UNDAUNTED COURAGE AND AS A TOKEN/ OF THEIR DEEP SORROW FOR HIS EARLY BUT GLORIOUS DEATH
